Chinese Pepper Steak

This recipe screams childhood favorite and I couldn’t wait to share it. One of my favorite dishes that I absolutely loved that my mom made for my sisters and I for dinner was pepper steak. Oh how I loved my mom’s quick stir-fry beef with tons of onions and garlic, deeee-lish. There was something about mom’s cooking that you always think about and miss dearly. Moms’ always cook it better, right?

But there has come a time where now the tables have turned, and my mom has been requesting dishes for me to make for her. It’s quite a switch, and right now she’s asking me to bake a batch of biscotti’s and apple pies. My mom has quite the sweet tooth, it runs in the family I suppose. My mom is not one for detailed recipes, and if I did ask her what ingredients were in her version of pepper steak – she would tell me “a little bit of this, and a little bit of that.” Besides, I have asked for her infamous recipe of leche flan and a cooking lesson in the art of baking the flan – lo and behold, she went ahead and made for me.

Thank goodness for Google. I found one of the most popular recipes, and I think it’s a fair comparison to my mom’s version. It’s a quick and easy weeknight dinner and tastes as good as my momma’s. Enjoy a classic favorite of mine!
